Brief Bio
Dr. Rainer Schlosser is a Senior Researcher at the Hasso Plattner Institute, University of Potsdam, Germany, leading the research group “Data-driven decision support”. He graduated in Mathematics as well as in Business Administration and received his PhD in Operations Research from Humboldt University of Berlin, Germany. His research focuses on automated decision-making in dynamic systems in the area of Revenue Management and beyond using quantitative methods of operations research and data science. His work has been published in over 75 peer-reviewed publications including renowned Journals (EJOR, JEDC, IJPE, IJPR, COR, DGAA, JRPM, JCLP, KER, BISE), distinguished AI/ML conferences (KDD, IJCAI, ICDM, ECML, RECSYS, ICDE), and leading computer science venues (VLDB, EDBT, DAPD, CIKM, EDOC, SSDBM). Dr. Slawo Wesolkowski is a Senior Engineer in the Department of National Defence who provides analytics advice to the Government of Canada. Dr. Wesolkowski worked previously among others at Defence Research Development Canada – Centre for Operational Research and Analysis, and NCR Canada Ltd. He holds PhD, MASc and BASc degrees in Systems Design Engineering from the University of Waterloo. He is an INFORMS Certified Analytics Professional (CAP®) and the recipient of numerous awards for analytics including the 2018 Royal Canadian Air Force Commander Commendation.
