The Military Operations Research Society (MORS) is the premier professional association in the United States dedicated to advancing operations research, data analysis, and wargaming in service of national and homeland security. MORS began in 1966, evolving from its first military operations research symposia in the late 1950s.
MORS brings together a diverse community of military analysts, government personnel, industry experts, and academic researchers, all united by a shared mission: enhancing the quality of data that informs national security decisions. It achieves this by offering numerous certificate and non-certificate courses, workshops, special meetings, and communities of practice year-round.
Annually, MORS offers its flagship Symposium, gathering roughly 1,000 top analytical minds, to discuss research within over 30 different working groups. These programs foster cross-domain collaboration, professional growth, and the rapid translation of analytic research into operational impact.
Funded by DoD partners, including the Navy, Army, Air Force, Marine Corps, and the Office of the Secretary of Defense, MORS operates as a vital bridge between academic rigor and real-world application, fostering ethical, objective, and innovative approaches to complex national security challenges.
